Phase2Face Limited – Business Development Services and Regulatory Contracting for the Life Science and Healthcare Industries

Rx / OTC Drugs; Small Molecules / Biologics; Medical Devices

2011©

P2F was set up in 2008 by Simon Youlton to provide short to medium term business and intellectual property services to further innovations for investment in the life science and healthcare industries. P2F has contracted to public and private enterprises for a diverse range of projects covering many technologies and indications. Projects include the following functions:

1.  Business Developmemt : out licensing and sourcing IP
2.  Analytical reports on potential licensing and M&A targets
3.  Part-time Technology Transfer Temporary cover for Universities
4.  Helping Management Teams draft business plans and develpment strategies in Biotech
5.  Conducting commission based sales support for young start-ups
6.  Connecting with angels and venture capitalists for financing spin-outs from Universities
7.  Providing regulatory services in Europe on a fixed fee for service basis for licensed drugs/medical devices
8.  Drafting Expert Clinical Evaluations for Medical Device Product Compliance

Combining entrepreneurial acumen and technology transfer/business development skills with an indepth knowledge of patent prosecution, infringement and examination/opposition and contract and company law, P2F focuses on the issues that are relevant but tangential to the scientific community. Simon has built this expertise within life science companies and whilst working with medical institutes in the UK and across Europe over the last 25 years. Simon has built a network of colleagues and associates in both the scientific community and within technology transfer to call upon where beneficial (under strict confidence).

Most recently Simon was a Chief Scientific Officer for a dermatology company that was at the time a FTSE listed PLC. Here he instructed a team in R&D across Europe and instigated new pre-clinical projects as well as maturing other drug and medical device projects to the clinic and through regulatory. He has headed up a reguatory team and overseen an FDA site inspection.

Having managed teams  within business development, sales, marketing, R&D, and regulatory within industry and also within technology transfer in academia, Simon really can bring a global view to solving a problem and an all round approach to managing a project.

Unfortunately in the modern world people rarely stay in one place for long. This can leave companies and organisations with temporary vacuums in resource and expertise. P2F contracts help plug that gap and keep the business and path to profitability moving forward whilst relieving over-stretched permanent staff to concentrate on their core functions.

Finally without a fertile germination bed of new biotech start-ups, the European Biotechnology industry will starve. In the present financial climate it is no longer possible for opportunistic business plans with little commercial due diligence and no input from external experienced management to get off the ground. The ‘funding gap’ between Seed and Series A funding continues to widen into a canyon and the world is becoming more risk averse. However European science continues to provide exciting ideas for tomorrows medicines and diagnostics, and these ideas need to be leveraged in to products and services. F2P is just one of many specialist websites where such expertise can be sought and brought to play on a temporary and low risk basis to help founders and investors alike. Simon has helped form start-ups in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany and Italy.

Working within the Life Sciences field continues to be one of the most intreresting, promising and rewarding fields to work within with many tangential fields intersecting to deliver ever increasing benefits in medicine and veterinary medicine. The current short-termist approach of the investment commmunity is however a threat to the continued growth of industry, our community and is stifling inovation. However technology facilitates simplicity and improves outcome and will always have a place. With the right management technologies that form the font of the worlds most innovative products will continue to amaze us all for their versatility and potential.

“I look forward to a continued contribution to and promotion of these exciting projects. Whatever your reasons for visiting I hope you find what you are looking for and would be happy to help”

Simon Youlton, Managing Director.
